Cultural Diversity....

After spending considerable time in different parts of the world, I am here to share my experiences on cultural diversity between West and Indian as I witnessed tremendous differences with respect to many parameters.

Life Style
Indian: Extended family relationships effect all aspects of life.
Standing with peers and family is important.
Accommodating and adjusting.

Western : Family has a place but, strict separation maintained.
Personal satisfaction & happiness is important.
Picky in wants and desires.

Profile
Indian: Ambitious

Western: Professional

Environment
Indian : Harsh, Dirty, Arbitrary, Bureaucratic
Lots of peer pressure and family pressure to confirm/compare.

Western: Comfortable, Clean, streamlined.
Stable, no undue pressures.

Attitude to Life
Indian : Wants value addition to self.
Wants to live abroad, enjoying the better lifestyle.

Western: Wants loyalty and job security; Dedicated to an area of work.
Comfortable in current living environment.

Attitude to Work
Indian: work and other aspects of living flow together.
Hierarchy and seniority are respected.
Hardworking.
Learn new technologies always.
More focused on breadth vs. depth of knowledge

Western: Work is kept strictly separate from other parts of life; personal sacrifices are rare.
Achievement is respected; Equality is honored.
Focused working.
Focused in some areas.
Thorough and deep in certain areas
